At each end, the tap0 interface is bridged to the em1 interface (internal network). All traffic flows fine. Great. We added a VLAN (VLAN20) with em1 as its parent on both ends. Encapsulated 802.1Q packets traverse the bridge from em1 to tap0 and through the tunnel. Bueno.
May need to stop the openvpn service to avoid a reboot – Reconnect VPN tapdiag /link:[on|off] # Use to unplug/plug ethernet cable tapdiag /setq:[on|off|always] # to set the 802.1Q handling. Driver now disables 802.1Q by default. Note that the tapdiag configuration is runtime only – if you reboot the test machine, you will lose the 802.1Q state.
